Immigration Advisor (IRCC)

POSITION SUMMARY:

Counsels provide initial immigration consultations and represent clients regarding applications and process of visitor, student and worker visa, study and work permits, PNP, LMIA, Caregiver, H&C, and other temporary and permanent Canadian residence purposes, including CAQs and CSQs programs for Quebec; therefore, an in-process or active MIDI license is a great asset.

Counsels will follow up with the client throughout the process until the client receives a final pleasant decision, demonstrating a high level of professionalism during consultations and meetings, both in person and remotely or virtually.

This role will allow you to work within a busy team of experienced and knowledgeable professionals who consist of Professional Translators, Legal Researchers, Immigration Counsels, Legal Assistants, etc.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Carrying out volume Immigration casework for Canada, including case initiation, case assessment, provision of advice on applicable rules and procedures, case preparation and submission, monitoring progress, and follow up on completion.

  • Act as a dedicated point of contact to clients, providing highly personalized services that meet client needs and expectations.

  • Take ownership of client relationships and provide clients with informed advice that reflects best practices and compliance.

  • Conduct regular review of accounts, assists with training for new members of the team.

  • Identify, pursue, and generate new business leads, ensuring that work is profitable.

  • Listen intently to the client needs to ensure that these are met and anticipate customer needs, offering pro-active advice.

  • Remain updated on industry events/circumstances that may be relevant to our professional practice.

  • Communicate regularly with clients to build a strong relationship while focusing on business needs and ensuring that client service review meetings are held regularly, with formal agendas and presentations.

  • Attend client meetings, telephone & video conferences/ webinars as required.

  • Effectively manage individual/team time prioritizing, identifying, and addressing critical tasks while remaining flexible to changing priorities.

  • Using exceptional organizational skills to meet or exceed customer and company’s expectations.

  • Respond to email and telephone inquiries in a timely manner, ensuring that advice is comprehensive and accurate, managing expectations where needed, and escalating issues promptly and appropriately.

  • Use resources and research for complex cases/scenarios.

  • Recommend improvements in work procedures, policies, or systems in assigned responsibility.

SKILLS:

  • Fluency in English is Mandatory.

  • Spanish is a very important asset.

  • French is also an asset

  • Knowledge of other foreign languages is an asset.

  • Must be an Immigration consultant in good standing with ICCRC.

  • Quebec MIDI certificate is considered a great asset.

  • Excellent professionalism, good written and verbal communication skills both in person and virtually.

  • Experience working under pressure.

  • Ability to efficiently work independently as well as in a team environment.

  • Prioritisation, and a high level of self-organization.

  • Flexible and autonomous, able to solve problems independently and manage different projects at the same time.

  • Ability to conduct any necessary research, using Internet or other computer-based tools.

  • Ability to work with minimum or without supervision, prioritize and multi-task efficiently in a deadline-driven environment is essential.

  • Ability to accept and apply constructive feedback.

  • Proficient use of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, Acrobat, Skype, Teams, WhatsApp and other Apps and software.

  • Highly Costumer Service oriented.

  • An "I can do" attitude.

  • Flexible for occasional extra work time as needed per a case.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Visual activity; ability to view computer screen for a full shift, approximately eight hours.

  • Sitting for extended periods of time.

  • Manual dexterity for operating a computer, keyboard, and mouse.

  • Operating a phone with the ability to verbally and through text convey detailed information accurately and clearly.

  • Light lifting (no more than 25 pounds).

  • LMIA + WP: 1 year (preferred)

  • ICCRC Certificate active (required)

  • MIDI License or certificate active (preferred)
